A beautiful day's riding through rolling countryside with cool conditions at the start, gradually warming up to the low 20s.
Firstly it was all luggage into the SASMobile
as Ganners showed us his better side:then there was the obligatory team photo before the ride officially got under way.It wasn't long before we struck trouble, however;
which took us past the remains of the collapsed bridge.
from Farrans Lookout
before heading for morning tea in Tintildra. We had heard good reports of the bakery there
but as it turned out it had been closed for 25 years. We were directed to the General Storewhich was a teapot lover's paradise.In fact, pots of tea were pretty well all you could get there unless you opted for instant nescafe, and one of the rustic serving wenches
would even deliver it to your table.A short distance from Tintildra was the Tintildra Bridge and once on that you were headed into enemy territory.We didn't linger long there as things looked decidedly fishy -
in fact we noticed that everything in NSW looked fishy, or should that be 'crayfishy'.Lunch was just another 25 clicks down the road at Walwa
and Chalkie was looking
decidedly worried, and for good reason because before long the local constabulary were onto him and questioning himand were very keen to handcuff him
and drag him away. Most of us were all for it but OneOfThem, his lovely wife and the lady from WADA interceded on his behalf and got him off on a good behaviour bond.Putting this behind us we rode on to our night's lodgings at the little town of Jingellic,
not too far at all from the beautifully named town of Tumbarumba.
Accommodation is in a spacious house
in the grounds of the local pub.
Once settled in, Grand Pooh Bah Chalkie, bold as ever after his recent escape from the law, called a meetingto harangue us for all the things we had done wrong during the day -including clumsy Cocky spilling his drink
all over Faybie's new thongs.After a relaxing meal at the pub and with the bikes
all safely locked away, it's time for a rest before a big day of climbing tomorrow as we make our way to Lake Hume.
